2027 Energy Southeast Power Up Scholarship Applications are Now Open
Since 1992, Energy Southeast and its Members have awarded more than $3.6 million in scholarships to graduating high school seniors whose families receive electric service from an Energy Southeast member. Participating members include: Alexander City, Dothan, Fairhope, LaFayette, Lanett, Luverne, Opelika, Piedmont, Riviera Utilities, and Sylacauga.

All scholarship application materials, including required attachments, must be received by Energy Southeast by February 12, 2027. Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered.

Scholarship Information
To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduating high school senior whose parent or legal guardian receives electric service from an Energy Southeast Member utility. Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, community college, or vocational/trade school within the state of Alabama.
- Official High School Transcript
- Official ACT or SAT Score Certificate (if copy, please have counselor sign it)
- Please attach a resume’ of all school extracurricular, church, community service, work experience and/or vol-unteer activities that you desire to be taken into account in your application.
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (No letters from relatives accepted)
A total of 44 scholarships, each valued at $2,500, may be awarded. Each Member city or utility may provide:
- Two (2) scholarships for students attending a four-year college or university
- Two (2) scholarships for students pursuing community college, vocational, or trade school programs

The terms and conditions on which the scholarships are to be made for the 2027 scholarship year are as follows:
- The scholarship will only be granted to graduating high school seniors.
- In order to qualify for the PowerUp Scholarship, the applicant must be a dependent of an electric customer of an Energy Southeast Member city/utility at the time the application is made and through graduation from high school.
- To qualify for the PowerUp Scholarship, the student must attend a four-year college, community college, or vocational/trade school in the state of Alabama.
- The PowerUp Scholarship will be paid by Energy Southeast directly to the educational institution for credit to the student’s account at the institution.
- The PowerUp Scholarship must be utilized within 16 months following the student’s graduation.
- The PowerUp Scholarship will be announced and awarded in the spring.
- Incomplete applications (including all attachments) will be disqualified.
- If awarded, the PowerUp Scholarship recipient may be asked to submit their senior portrait or a similar type of picture. This picture may be shared on social media, on the Energy Southeast website, or in press releases. Providing a photograph and consenting to its use is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving or retaining the scholarship award.

Application Submission Requirements
The application must be completed and submitted to Energy Southeast. If an applicant fails to complete the entire application or fails to submit all the items in the format requested hereunder by the deadline date, the application will not be considered for any purposes or under any circumstances with respect to the scholarships of Energy Southeast.
The PowerUp Scholarship application may be completed online or by requesting a paper application. If submitting a paper application, please include all required documentation and submit by one of the following methods:

All applications and required documentation must be received by the application deadline. Please note that the scholarship application must be signed by the student and the Parent/Guardian. If application is submitted through the PowerUp application portal, electronic signatures are acceptable.
