Lisa M. MillerManager of Communications and Marketing

As Manager of Communications and Marketing for the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA), Lisa Miller is responsible for the joint action agency’s strategic communications and marketing efforts, as well as economic and community development initiatives in support of AMEA’s 11 Members.

Mrs. Miller joined AMEA in February 2007 as Director of Communications. In 2008, she was named Manager of Communications and Marketing.

As Manager of Communications and Marketing, her responsibilities include serving as editor of AMEA Communique, AMEA Utility News E-Newsletter and the AMEA Economic Development News; preparing AMEA’s Annual Report; preparing all AMEA publications; serving as administrator of AMEA’s web site; overseeing the AMEA Scholarship Program; administering Hometown Connections® (AMEA is the Hometown Connections Sales Affiliate for Alabama and Mississippi); working with Members’ local communication committees; assisting Members with media relations; supporting Electric Cities of Alabama and the American Public Power Association (APPA) activities; and working with and supporting AMEA Members on community and economic development initiatives.

She has over 28 years of communications and marketing experience in the electric utility industry.

Prior to joining AMEA, Mrs. Miller was Manager of Communications and Public Relations for Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (CAEC), Prattville, AL, for 18 years.

Before her career at CAEC, Mrs. Miller served as Editor and General Manager of two weekly newspapers, The Community Press, Millbrook, AL (1986-1989), and The Dadeville Record, Dadeville, AL (1982-1986).

She has won numerous communication awards from the Alabama Rural Electric Association, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA).

In June 2006, she received her Master Cooperative Communicator certification from CCA.

Mrs. Miller serves on the Board of Advisors for the Government & Economic Development Institute at Auburn University.

She is a member of the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) and the Southern Economic Development Council. In 2015, Mrs. Miller was appointed to the EDAA Associates Council for a two-year term.

Mrs. Miller is a member of the Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE) Board of Directors, where she served two terms as president (2014 and 2015).

In 2015, Mrs. Miller was appointed to the Main Street Alabama Board of Directors.

She has been a member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama, Montgomery Chapter, and the Southern Public Relations Federation since 1999.

Mrs. Miller serves on the APPA Public Communicators Committee, as well as APPA’s Economic Development Committee and Government Relations Working Group.

Mrs. Miller is actively involved in her community. Some of her commitments include: the City of Prattville Industrial Development Board of Directors; the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; chairman, Prattville Chamber Economic Development Committee; the Autauga County United Way Board of Directors; and, the Autauga County Technology Center Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Committee.

She is a past president of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as a past board member of the Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Miller is a past board member and chairman of the board of the Prattville Baptist Hospital Advisory Board, as well as a past board member of the River Region United Way.

Mrs. Miller was actively involved in the formation of leadership programs in Autauga, Elmore and Chilton counties. She served on the boards of Leadership Autauga and Leadership Elmore. She also served as chairman of Leadership Autauga County in 1999. Mrs. Miller is a member of the Leadership Autauga County Alumni Association.

In October 2005, she was presented the Spirit of Spinners Award, an award given annually by the Spinners Club of Prattville to an Autauga County woman for her commitment to community.

In September 2014, Mrs. Miller was honored with the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce for her “outstanding and dedicated service to the Chamber.”

A native of Alexander City, AL, Mrs. Miller holds a B.A. degree in Public Relations/Journalism from Auburn University. She is a member of the Auburn Alumni Association.

Mrs. Miller, and her husband, Mike, reside in Prattville.
